Project Description:
Dwyer Engineering and Construction were contracted to carry out the supply and fabrication and surface treatment of the “Train Load Out Facility” for the Fortescue iron ore mine.
The facility is located at Cloud Break in the Pilbra region of Western Australia. Fabrication consisted of two load out Hoppers each of 20 ton, chutes, pipework and the supporting structural steel approximately 600 ton.
The project also included wear-resistant liner plates. The scope of the contract initially included 140 ton structural and plate work, with a time-frame of 10 weeks, however the project grew to 600 ton, and was completed in 11 months.
